The Biggest Entertainment Stories of 2024 – IGN The Fix: Entertainment
From a presumed-dead superhero returning to life, to a Pulitzer-prize-winning rapper lyrically burying another, this year had it all. It’s time we took a look back at the three biggest entertainment stories that popped off on IGN in 2024. The Marvel Cinematic Universe dropped a massive bomb at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, by revealing who will be playing the MCU’s Doctor Doom. None other than Iron Man himself, Robert Downey, Jr. appeared at the Hall H conference, sparking wild speculation as to how RDJ could return to the MCU after having been given a proper send-off in Avengers: Endgame. In music news, we were witness to one of the greatest rap beefs in history, as Kendrick Lamar and Drake traded barbs over several songs during the summer. It didn’t even matter who "lost," as the public was treated to banger after banger from both sides. And finally, an unauthorized Willy Wonka pop-up went viral for being a total bust. But the star of the event was a character not even in the Wonka movies or books: an AI-created villain known as "The Unknown" that apparently frightened a child or two at the event.
